As a respected clinical trainer and educator, Ian has over 30 years of experience in the fields of healthcare, mental health, and addiction services. With experience supervising and clinical consultation with more than 100 clinicians, Ian is dedicated to supporting practitioners through compassionate, ethical, and reflective clinical supervision or consultation. His clinical approach is heavily grounded in understanding the role of client transference reactions and the clinician’s countertransference reactions. Helping clinicians increase their formative theoretical knowledge, normative integrative understanding of theory to practice, and restoratively supporting the professional’s wellness in the clinical work. His approach ensures quality care, professional growth and development, and ethical practice, and he underpins all practice in a “do no harm” culturally grounded trauma-informed philosophy of clinical practice.

Our consulting services support organizations in developing and integrating evidence-based, culturally grounded trauma-informed standards of care across all levels of organization. Ian works closely with the organization to create practices that are both trauma-sensitive and culturally grounded, while aligning with the Required Organizational Practices (ROPs) necessary for accreditation.
